Kolton Stewart...
...is a singer, dancer, actor and musician...who turned 14 years old on Canada Day 2013 (that's July 1st, for those non-Canadians reading this!)
Hailing from a small town in rural Ontario, Canada, Kolton has been involved in music for most of his life. Inspired at a very young age by the likes of Ray Charles & Elton John, he quickly developed a passion for the drums, and began playing by age three. With a natural gift for percussion, Kolton started competing in adult pipe & drum bands by the age of four, and this lead to performances and tours around North America and in Europe. An International Drumming Award and scholarships followed, and then football and hockey piqued his interest and became a priority. One day, at age 8 during football practice, a broken leg caused Kolton to be side-lined - and he once again turned to performing.
Taking a chance at something new, he auditioned for the famed Stratford Shakespearean Festival, and landed the role of Winthrop (Understudy) in The Music Man. The following season at Stratford, Kolton was a principal performer in West Side Story, with the solo song "Somewhere", and played the role of MacDuff's Son in Macbeth where he got to die each night on stage! Immediately following this season, at age 10, Kolton was hired by Disney to play the role of "Young Simba" in their North American Tour of The Lion King.
Film and Television roles ensued including Make Your Move 3D, American Girl 2013 and a Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) selection for 2012 I Declare War, as did more dance training, performances and competitions in which he has received many accolades. His musical experiences expanded in 2011 too! Adding guitar to his instrument arsenal was Kolton's next move, and with that decision came perfomances with small ensembles and as a solo artist, where he has shared the stage with performers like The DoneFors and JUNO Award Winners the Good Lovelies.
In September 2012, after posting a YouTube cover song video with his friend Myles Erlick of Jason Mraz's hit "I Won't Give Up", Ellen DeGeneres saw the video and invited Kolton and Myles to perform the song on her show as part of her 10th Anniversary Season. Kolton and Myles flew to LA and performed in front of a live, studio audience, after which Ellen presented Kolton with his dream drum set from Pearl Drums!
In August of 2013, Kolton relocated to Vancouver, British Columbia, to begin filming a new YTV series called Some Assembly Required. Kolton, who plays the lead character Jarvis Raines, is excited for his fans to see this new show, which is set to begin airing nationally on the YTV network in March 2014.
In the meantime, Kolton is working on writing and recording his own music and continues to record and release videos. Stay tuned for much more music from Kolton in the near future.
