John-Robert Rimel was born in June of 2000. He is the oldest of 4 children and resides in the Shenandoah Valley. John-Robert has been singing since the age of 2. His parents knew he could sing, but they did not truly realize his talent until he took the stage on a whim at the age of 9. It was during The Shenandoah Relay For Life Event, prior to this he had never stepped foot on a stage, he began singing "Hey Soul Sister" by Train Acappella (see below). The audience in the grandstand grew silent, you could hear a pin drop. When he finished, the crowd roared.
Several weeks later John-Robert met with a Professor from James Madison University, School of Music. He advised that he only worked with High School and College Students, but he would take a listen to John-Robert. Forty Five minutes into the session the professor was ready to make an appointment to work with him. Same day, he met with Robby Meadows of Alive Studio who was kind enough to give him a tour of his Studio. John-Robert shared his version of "Beth" by KISS Acapella with Robby Meadows. Mr Meadows describes his reaction as "jaw dropping". The following week he met the whole Cast of The Virginia Dreams Center Stage Show and was invited to sing at the Rockingham County Fair. John-Robert sang "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz Acappella. He was received with an overwhelming response from the crowd. John-Robert was pleasantly surprised and responded with "Wow, is that for me?"
Several weeks later, John-Robert was in the Studio making his first Demo. He has appeared several times on WHSV TV3 Noon News as their musical guest, performed at Relay For Life, Shenandoah County Fair, Rockingham County Fair, Churches, Sporting Event. The Virginia Dreams Center Stage Show singing "I Can Only Imagine" by Mercy Me. The Northern Virginia Daily did a wonderful story on his musical adventure (http://www.nvdaily.com/lifestyle/2011/05/keeping-busy-student-with-passion-for-singing-shares-voice-with-whoever-will-listen.php). He has been featured in Northern Virginia Daily, Daily News Record (Harrisonburg), the Mountain Courier. He has been named as one of the 15 young up and coming artist by the Huffington post (July2014). John-Robert has been on WKDW, Q102, and The River 95.3.
Currently, John-Robert is appearing the first Saturday of each month as a cast member in the Shenandoah Jamboree Show at Shenandoah Caverns, Yellow Barn. This has given him the opportunity to work with Ben "Cooter" Jones, Lisa Meadows, Cooter's Garage Band, Brian Buchanan, Nikki and JoJo, and Danny Figgins. You can also see the Shenandoah Jamboree on WVPT PBS Thursdays at 7:30pm. He was given the opportunity to perform in front of a sold out show at the Nashville Palace (summer 2013 and 2014).
The highlight of his career has been his appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show March 31, 2014. This is an experience he will treasure for a lifetime.
John-Robert is a young man who realizes he has been born with a God given talent he is willing to share. He will sing to anyone, anytime, anywhere.
