Milwaukee born, Donovan Owens began singing at the tender age of 2 and continues to amaze and entertain audiences wherever he goes. Donovan has been accepting singing engagements since the age of 5; singing at birthday parties, weddings, corporate functions, conferences, and church events. It wasn’t long before Donovan was singing professionally.
By the age of 10, Donovan had been invited to perform at numerous events nationwide and has had the privilege of sharing the stage with some of the most notable names in music today; including J Moss, Yolanda Adams, Pastor Marvin Winans, and Dorinda Clark- Cole.
Further confirmation of Donovan’s crossover appeal came when he was invited to be the opening act for one of the biggest concerts held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for WKKV V100FM Radio Station. He set the stage for some of R&B’s favorites; Day 26, Dream, Nelly and Soulja Boy.
Donovan Owens has been described as “an everyday kid with an extraordinary gift”. Like many children his age, he loves cartoons, video games and good music. However, this “everyday kid” has another passion; he loves to act. He auditioned and was cast with the Modjeska Youth Theatre for the Broadway musical "Suessical the Musical", in which he portrayed 4 different characters. Within these roles he demonstrated his versatility as an artist, not only through singing but also through acting and dancing.
Donovan’s acting ability has earned him a place in the cast of the, soon to be released, gospel movie “Forget Me Not”. This has proven to be the highlight of his career so far, and has created much excitement in the Owens Camp.
One of the gospel greats, Kirk Franklin, was so impressed by the young Mr Owens, that he featured Donovan on the song “Whole Nation” on his latest CD, "Fight of My Life". This is a song with a powerful message. Donovan hopes that he is able to touch lives with the messages contained in his debut album, “All That I Have”, which will be released this June (2009). Clearly this is not all he has, there is more to come from this “everyday kid with an extraordinary gift”!
